John Rabolt received the 2008 New York Society of Applied Spectroscopy's Gold Medal Award for his contributions to vibrational spectroscopy. The award was presented at a symposium held in his honor at the Eastern Analytical Society Meeting held in New Brunswick, NJ on November 19. Rabolt was honored for his innovative work on instrumentation for the analysis of dynamics in materials using, FT-IR, Raman, FT-Raman and planar array IR (PA-IR)spectroscopy. Dr. Bruce (Chase DuPont/PAIRTech), Dr. Ira Levin (NIH) and Professor Peter Griffiths (Idaho) were invited speakers in the symposium.

In 2005, Bruce Chase was recognized with two awards in the field of analytical chemistry and spectroscopy. He received the Charles Mann Award at the 2005 FACSS meeting held in Quebec. The Charles Mann Award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated advancement(s) presented at FACSS in the field of applied Raman Spectroscopy and/or demonstrated dedication to the advancement of the FACSS Raman spectroscopy program and/or the ASTM Raman subcommittee. Dr. Chase was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of Raman spectroscopy through the development of FT-Raman in addition to his work in the use of Raman scattering in the analysis of fiber structure and orientation. During the 2005 EAS meeting he received the EAS Award for Outstanding Achievements in Analytical Chemistry. He was recognized for contributions to the development of both infrared and Raman spectroscopies over the past three decades. At the EAS meeting, the award symposium was focused on the power of collaborations. A major portion of the symposium was devoted to the successful partnership between Dr. Chase and Professor Rabolt . The successful development of PA-IR spectroscopy was highlighted.
